But there is something about a mown path. And mown land for that matter. We only have two acres but when the paths are mown and the beds are weeded (a much rarer occurence) all is right with the world.

I take your point about mown-ness: I noticed yesterday how all the mowing had integrated our adjacent field more with the house area somehow… I guess it’s a taming thing?
I can’t comment upon weedlessness, a condition as remote to me as nirvana!
